How to report an inaccurate page
A useful correction report should contain as much of the following as possible:
- the URL of the page on criminal-record.org/;
- the heading or paragraph containing the issue;
- the specific statement, address, phone number, fee, office hour, form, portal link, or step that appears incorrect;
- what you believe the current information should be;
- a link to the responsible court, agency, statute, official form, public notice, or other authoritative source; and
- the date you observed the problem, especially if it involves a temporary outage or changed online portal.
How we process a correction
- Reproduce the issue. We open the affected page and identify the exact statement or destination being challenged.
- Identify the controlling source. We determine which court, agency, sheriff, corrections department, or public body is responsible for the information.
- Compare current official material. We review the current government page, form, rule, fee schedule, contact listing, or notice.
- Resolve conflicts carefully. If official sources disagree, we may contact the office, describe the conflict, or avoid presenting an uncertain detail as settled.
- Correct confirmed errors. We revise material errors, broken links, outdated steps, and misleading descriptions.
- Update the review date when appropriate. Substantial re-verification should be reflected in the page’s freshness information.
Examples of corrections we want to receive
- a county clerk replaced its old case-search portal;
- a state police criminal-history request fee changed;
- a courthouse moved or changed public counter hours;
- a sheriff now uses a different inmate or booking system;
- an official form has been replaced;
- a page incorrectly describes a local court search as statewide;
- a record category has become restricted or is no longer publicly searchable online;
- a guide links to a commercial directory where an official source is now available; or
- a description could lead readers to confuse an arrest or charge with a conviction.
What we can remove or correct
We can review material that appears on criminal-record.org/. If our page contains a factual error, broken source, incorrect description, outdated instruction, inappropriate identifying detail, or other problem within our control, we can evaluate whether the page should be corrected, updated, deindexed, or otherwise changed.
We do not charge a person to correct a confirmed factual error in our own editorial content.
What we cannot remove
criminal-record.org/ does not control court files, state criminal-history repositories, police reports, sheriff databases, booking systems, inmate databases, warrant systems, sex-offender registries, or search-engine caches. We cannot seal, expunge, vacate, redact, suppress, or delete a government record.
If the issue exists in an official database, contact the agency or court that maintains that database. If you need a legal remedy such as expungement, sealing, restriction, correction of a court disposition, or modification of an arrest record, you may need to follow a statutory procedure or obtain legal advice.
When a government record has been sealed or expunged
If you believe a page on our website points to information that should no longer be public because a record has been sealed, expunged, restricted, or corrected, send us the criminal-record.org/ URL and enough information to identify the issue. Do not send highly sensitive documents in your first message.
We may need to verify the current status through a public court source, agency confirmation, or other reliable documentation. A change to our page does not itself change the official record.
Do not email unnecessary sensitive information
Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank or payment-card information, passwords, full driver’s-license numbers, full copies of passports, unredacted identity documents, medical records, or other highly sensitive information merely to report an editorial issue. Most corrections can be evaluated from the page URL and the current official source.
Broken official links
Government websites move frequently. If an official link returns an error, redirects to a generic home page, or now points to an unrelated service, report both the criminal-record.org/ page and the broken destination. We will look for the replacement path through the responsible agency rather than automatically substituting a third-party directory.

Questions we cannot answer for an individual case
We cannot tell you whether a person is guilty, whether a warrant is active, whether someone should be hired or rented housing, whether a record is legally usable for screening, whether a charge will be dismissed, or whether you qualify for expungement. Those questions depend on official case information, applicable law, and sometimes professional legal advice.
